Help with homework
Some tips all parents should read!

By Luke Scrutton

Some parents across the UK might have found assisting with homework that little bit difficult. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to make the work more fun. If all else fails, expert help with homework is at hand in the shape of our personal tutors at Genie Tutors.

The Trouble with Homework

There are two main problems. The first is the fact that after a long day at school, your child simply might not want to do the set work. If your child finds the homework boring or difficult, the task can quickly become an issue –sometimes resurfacing on every occasion.

Secondly, if you know little to nothing about the subject, helping your child is difficult, if not impossible. As an example, trying to help your child work out their A Level Algebra homework could turn out to be a disaster.

Even if you did take an A Level in maths, teaching methods have changed somewhat over the years, and convincing your child that your method is as valid could just as easily turn the whole process of offering help with homework into one massive argument. The same obviously also applies to SATs and GCSEs and, of course, other subjects, like English or science.

Not forgetting the busy lives that we all lead. How do we make time for homework supervision with a view to helping to make it more interesting and valuable?

Making Homework More Fun

Luckily, there are many ways to make your child’s homework a great deal more enjoyable. There are some great tips on making these tasks fun at RedTricycle, Haliborange and MakingLearningFun, for example. The latter in particular offers some great ideas on making homework and learning fun for kids of all ages. Children from Year 1 right through to Year 12 can benefit.
